Cha Tae-hyun as a former racing champ
by javabeans
I guess horses are in this year? Cha Tae-hyun is taking on his next role in a film called Champ, which is set in the world of horse racing.
In the movie, Cha plays a former star jockey who loses his wife in a sudden accident and seriously damages his eyes. It’s all downhill after that and his life and career take a downturn, but a chance encounter with a racehorse kick-starts his comeback. This is based on a true story of a racehorse named Luna that debuted in 2004 at the Busan Gyeongnam Race Park and went on to win 13 of 33 races.
Champ shares a similar topic with another upcoming film project, Lee Jun-ki and Kim Tae-hee‘s jockey film Grand Prix. This one may have the edge, as writer and director Lee Hwan-kyung is already has a racehorse-themed film under his belt, 2006’s Lump of Sugar (which starred Im Soo-jung). Lee said that he intends for Champ to be “an upgraded version” of Lump of Sugar that will show a “lively, touching human story.”
Cast as Cha’s daughter is child actress Kim Soo-jung, a six-year-old who attracted notice for being the “answer girl” on KBS’s Star Golden Bell. The movie will film in Jeju Island, Busan, and Japan with a budget of 6 billion won. With this film, Cha will be returning to the big screen two years after his last (Speed Scandal), which was a huge hit and broke into the Top 10 Korean box office hits of all time.

I love CTH a bunch, so I might check this out. The story seems more compelling that the LJK one anyway. :x

Cha Tae-hyun! He is not one of the most good-looking Korean actors out there but the guy seriously has the acting chops. I watched some of his movies and enjoyed them immensely. Aside from My Sassy Girl, my favorite is Scandal Makers. Cha Tae-hyun is so funny when his is being cocky.
I hope Champ is just as good. :-)

Cha Tae Hyun is definitely good actor...and I adore Kim Soo Jung!
Hope the movie won't be a tearful melodrama though.
