Drama success presents Choi Jung-won with CF opportunities

Nice to see that drama success is paying off for some, like Choi Jung-won of Wish Upon a Star, who is now entertaining an influx of CF offers. Although the drama itself is what thrusts stars into the spotlight in the first place, CFs are how they make a substantial portion of their income, and these advertising offers are often closely linked to their drama successes. Choi’s role as the upbeat Pal-gang struggling to raise her five siblings has already sparked fashion trends, and now she’s signed on to endorse clothing brands, food products, and real estate, in addition to considering nearly a dozen other contracts.

Her management credits the bright, cheery image she conveys in the drama, which is quite different from the image she displayed in her last drama, Kingdom of the Wind. (Estimation of Choi’s acting has also improved, as I recall that she was criticized for being a mere pretty face in that show.)

Wish Upon a Star is performing pretty well in its Monday-Tuesday timeslot (although the series, as with Angel’s Temptation, is mainly competing with the 9pm news rather than other drama programming). With ratings numbers nearing 20%, it has surpassed the news to claim the top position.

Good for her.

If she were to endorse a ramen, I'd buy it and even use most of the MSG packet.

Well, I did not like her acting in KOW. I thought she was rather blank for the most part of the series.

If this new series has her improving her acting skills, kuddos.

She truly deserves it, and haha totally agree with samsooki. Love her style in Wish Upon a Star as well, and suffered drama cravings this week - can't believe we're already past half way through the series.

I like her acting in Wish Upon a Star. But she looks 30-something to me, rather older than Lawyer Kang Ha. ( I don't know their real ages) I don't know - but I'm glad they picked someone less attractive to play JaeYoung. I never like it when the antagonistic 2nd lead female ends up being prettier than the lead (like in BBF).

I am very happy for her. She has come a long way from the character in All-In. Glad that she wasn't stuck in that type of role.

Mimi, dramawiki says she was born on 1981-Mar-10, which I believe makes her 28 or 29.

Mimi, DramaWiki lists Kim Ji-Hoon(Kang-ha) as having been born on 1981-May-09, so he's actually a couple of months younger than Choi Jung-won.

In the drama, she's supposed to be 25. I think she looks like a young woman in her mid-late twenties(I would've guessed 27 from her appearance on the show).

I don't remember seeing what age Kang-ha's supposed to be, but I'd guess that he's supposed to be in his early thirties(I would've guessed 30 from his appearance on the show). Dramas always like to put the lead guy right at around 30, right? I think he looks just a bit older than Pal-gang...but, really, just a tiny bit.

I'm really glad for Choi Jung-won. I think she deserves the recognition and the CF offers. I think she's quite pretty(her eyes have that killer sparkle in them), with a nice figure, to boot. I've not seen her other works, but have read of the criticisms about her acting. I think she's proven in WUAS that she can act well and show complexity in her character. I look forward to watching her in her upcoming projects. =)

Yeah, I knew she was probably younger than what I had thought and I could have easily looked up their ages... I was just commenting on what age she appeared to be to me.

I like this type of actors/actresses. Always been underestimated for their acting ability but somehow they can prove them (the critics) wrong. It means that they care about what other people view about them and they work really hard to improve their skill. And not vice versa (you know what I mean & I don't want to mention name here). So congrats for CJW.

I like this actress and I'm glad her Pal-gang role has proved successful enough for her to be making CFs! Go girl!! She's lovely both looks and talent-wise.

I hadn;t seen any of her previous works so had an open mind about her when WUAS started, I'm glad she surpassed everyone's expectations! Look forward to seeing her in more stuff.

4 mimi
You mean that she looks haggard? Isn't that a good thing? It's realistic really and fits with her battle-hardened character and all.
And when she frowns she shows hints of lines? Awesome, I'm fed up of the botoxed up actresses, she's au naturel yet beautiful. I'd say she does look her age, better than a 16 year old wannabe face any day of the week, thanks to the you!

I have not watched WUAS because she was the main female lead and her role in KOW was so blah, blah, blah to me, but may give this show a try because the kids look adorable and carry the show.....

Oh my,

I love this woman. She is not superficially pretty. But there is something very natural, honest about her. Not the only way she look but the way she immensely and indulge in her acting and portraying herself.

I remember at first a tad bit bothered by her white/snowy face but I love her now. Her skins tough imperfect but reflect a real woman.

She has bring more to the character than the script offered and never I did remembered so loving the main actress this much after Painter of The Wind. She is talented and beautiful at heart.
