Smile casts Lee Kyu-han
by javabeans
Coming on the heels of the drama announcement for Lee Min-jung‘s next project Smile [그대, 웃어요], we have news of one of the two male leads: It has cast Lee Kyu-han, who played Sam-soon’s amusing rapscallion of an ex-boyfriend in My Name is Kim Sam-soon and the more strait-laced second lead of Que Sera Sera.
It appears he won’t be Lee Min-jung’s main man, though — that role is yet uncast, although Lee Chun-hee‘s name is being tossed around as a contender. Lee Kyu-han is cast in the role of Lee Min-jung’s fiancée when she is the daughter in a wealthy chaebol family. However, upon her family’s financial ruin and their subsequent move into their chauffeur’s home, his parents oppose the marriage. Due to his indecisive nature, he allows them to break up his engagement. As so many people do, he doesn’t realize what a good thing he had until he loses it, and it’s only after she begins courting a new love interest that he decides he can’t forget her, and thereafter does everything in his power to get in the way of her new romance.
I don’t have strong opinions about Lee Kyu-han, but I generally like him. From his roles in Sam-soon and Que Sera Sera, he’s shown both a comedic and serious side, and based on the former, I’m optimistic that he’ll be able to pull off the role of an annoying and jealous second lead with an entertaining touch.
Smile will air on weekends following Style.

i really like Lee Kyu-Han as an actor. i thought he was unexpectedly hilarious in MNIKSS (i mean, he was the horrible boyfriend but you couldn't help but like his character!), and he was one of the stand-outs in QSS. I loved his character, and although Eric and Yumi were great together, there were several occasions during that drama where i actually wanted her to end up with Kyu-han's character. i mean, he did such a nice job of conveying the loneliness of his character. i thought he was excellent!
as for this upcoming drama, i'm excited. so far, i'm liking all the cast members, and the story doesn't seem as dramatic and serious as the other new drama "I Love You Ten Million Times". looking forward to Lee Min Jung's interactions with Lee Kyu-han, though it's a shame he's not the main lead. honestly, has he ever been the main lead in any drama? he would be a good lead. haha. bias opinion i know.

Yeah liked him in MNIKSS as well. I haven't watched Que Sera Sera but I have seen him in TV shows like Introducing Star Friends recently and he is funny.

I am very happy that Lee Kyu-han is in a new drama. I liked him a lot in Que Sera Sera (my favorite Eric Mun drama).
I'll be watching this drama, too.

Hmm... i guess he did a really good job playing the sleazeball bf in kim sam-soon because I havent really liked him since then. Still, this drama sounds like it could be a lot of fun so I'm definitely in. As for Chun-hee, I thoroughly enjoyed watching him in Family Outing and I was gutted when he left so I really hope he gets the lead role in Smile. At least he would have left for a good reason, no?

It is hard to believe, but just the other day I was thinking that Lee Kyuhan wasn't that bad of a character, really, in Kim Sam Soon. Except for the philandering obviously.. If he give him a pass on wanting to cheat all the time - he's a pretty decent guy, no?
I think he is a fine actor.

the plot reminds me of the beginning of the taiwanese series Corner With Love.

Good for him! I read somewhere that he didn't earn a penny last year. He didn't have a single project in 2008. I'm glad he's back.

This guy - always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Or whatever the male equivalent of that cliche is. I think he's a pretty solid actor; he was really kind of adorable in MNIKSS, aside from his man-whoring ways! The scene where Binnie shoves him off of his barstool (and he just falls over like a bowling pin) cracks me up every time I think of it. Glad to hear he's solving that little cash flow problem, too.

I loved this guy from MNIKSS. He was a jerk but he was so funny that he was endearing in a way! I wish I can see him as a lead in a comedy! I also have a soft spot for him since he looks a bit like the vietnamese singer, Luong Tùng Quang.

I happened to see the summary of the show. The story is going to interesting and it's even more interesting to me than the lady castle is. Personally, I am not excited to see the main lead (the guy from Queen of housewives) in Lady Castle.

I also read that he appeared on some show and stated that he didn't earn not one "won" in 2008. That took a lot of guts to say publicly in my book. I also enjoyed him as Kim Sam Soon's cad of an ex-boyfriend and wish him much success in his coming role.

ugh. I'm totally not a fan of Lee Kyu Han. I've seen him on variety shows and he's really self-centered.
He's also a big party boy and is more known for his partying and drinking than acting at clubs in Korea I heard...
