Cinderella Man gets its apology
by javabeans
The fighting is over for drama series Cinderella Man, which had been accused of plagiarism in May by the production company of another proposed drama. On July 24, nearly two months after the drama limped to its June 4 finale, Cinderella Man and its production company, Core Contents Media, got an official apology and retraction.
Back in May, production company LK had said in an interview that Cinderella Man had ripped off a drama it had been developing called Fashion King. Core Contents immediately countered the claims and jumped to defend Cinderella Man‘s producers and writer, going so far as to sue both LK and the media source for defamation.
On July 24, the paper issued a correction, while Fashion King writer and representative Kim Ki-ho publicly stated, “After examining Cinderella Man, there is too weak of a basis for the claim, so it is not plagiarism.” And thus concludes this chapter in fashion-drama sniping.

Based just on my opinion - this is done just to get public name - to be re-mention on news again. The whole series was just plain BAD! a little bit better then Bad Love, but still just blah. Not worth all the big fush

It was okay.
You had your standard elements. Rich guy poor guy, rich girl poor girl. Rich family poor family. Corporate proxy fight for rich family. Mistaken identity. Guy who won't give up the girl. Girl who won't give up the guy. Poor girl is good girl. Rich girl dislikes poor girl. Rich guy dislikes poor guy. Love triangles. Orphan but not an orphan. Zany side characters with crazy accents. Sending off a character to go study overseas. Plenty of drinking soju in street bar scenes. I can't remember if I saw a guy carrying one or more girls on his back, but that's pretty much the only cliche I didn't see.
Put enough of them together and you have fun fun fun. The acting wasn't bad, and what more can you want out of life? The soundtrack is also not bad. :)

@#1 I know CM is not doing well but I don't think they are trying to get publicity by creating a big fuss over this plagiarism. The other party started the accusation, not the producer of CM. Aside this, Suing for copyrights infringement is not an easy thing to prove. You have to prove that the accused party had access to your work and ideas, unless you have that, you don't have a solid case even if the creations appear to be very very similar. Glad that they got this behind them. Honestly, this things happen all the time, whether intentional or not. No biggie.

Just finished Cinderella Man. Not good, just okay of a series. I still cannot figure how Kwon Sang Woo expected this series to hit 30% rating. They're lucky the rating was not 4% like "Triple". Also, SNSD fans out there, don't hate me, but Yoon-a was totally miscasted. Her performance was stiff and mismatched with Kwon Sang Woo. Looked more like father and daughter together.

Do the director and the writer of a drama usually don't conduct a focus group study before launching their production? Many of us could have predicted that KSW and YA wouldn't be a good match, like many of them had said that they are more like father daughter than lovers. It's pretty obvious, no?

gosh, i started this drama and could see why it had such low ratings.....lol its funny the company claims they were wrong..i guess they might do a new show called "Fashion King" but don't want the failure of this one being associated with it

I watched this drama in one sitting. If I had been watching it real time I would have quit after episode 3. It's rather interesting how a drama can be underacted (Yoona) and yet overacted (KSW).
The only reason I finished is because I loved looking at the "older" brother. So sexy. But the only acting I enjoyed was that of the "bad guy" foster brother who wasn't so bad afterall and that of the butler.
I just left feeling like Yoona and KSW shouldn't act anymore. She's so bland and he's in denial of what roles suit him.

I couldn't finish this at all. KSW needs to get a better person to choose a drama for him. He is not good at being moody and right now I can't see him as a gangster. I think maybe he should go for a crazy comedy and forget about romance altogether.
At least get an actress to play opposite him. Yoona is not a bad actress...she just isn't an actress at all. and never will be.

i've seen parts of this drama, but the storyline seemed too confusing to understand involving the twins or whatever KSW was, also they seemed to make the lead girl get all the pity while the other girl seemed too aloof and catty at times.

Bad Love, bad tv drama. Title is changed in the Philippines to Cruel Love which is more pleasing to the ears. It's being aired from Monday to Friday at 10:30 p.m. Now on it's final week and we are just glad that it's finally over.
Actors and actresses don't give much justice to the role they portry, except of course Kwon and Kim. I find the leading lady (what's her name?) very dry.
Anyway, better come up with a good project next time.

I agree with many of the views. Poor clarity with regards to the story. The lead Actor seem to be the only one moving the show. The lead actress-Yoona was not there at all. do not think she is cut out for acting. If sha has to the role must be passive. I am finding it difficult to watch.
