Fashionistas go for a Green Ride
by javabeans
Clothing brand Benetton is launching its “Green Ride Campaign,” with five fashionistas providing the face to their promotional ads: Jung Ryeo-won, above (Ja Myung Go); Gong Hyo-jin (Crush and Blush); Kang Hye-jung (Why Did You Come To My Home?); Choi Kang-hee (My Sweet Seoul); and model-singer Jang Yoon-ju.
As part of the campaign, Benetton will be producing limited edition bikes and “eco” bike bags and T-shirts, which will be sold in stores nationwide and on their website. A portions of proceeds from the campaign will be donated to the Climate Change Center.
Here’s Jung Ryeo-won with her bike:
Gong Hyo-jin:
Fashion model Jang Yoon-ju:
Film actress Kang Hye-jung (though perhaps more often described these days as Tablo’s honey):
And actress Choi Kang-hee:

I sort of want that bike bag held by Kang Hye-Jung. It can replace my messenger bag I use to commute with. The bike itself, although retro and cute... doesn't wow me much. And that cushy bike seat doesn't have the dorsal channel down the middle and so riding on that bike for more than, say, 30 mins, will make your butt and legs start to ache. I like the green-walled tires though.
Unfortunately, I don't think that the "eco-bag" that is being sold by Benetton Korea is the same as the same bike bag that is being shown with Jung Ryeo-Won (patterned outside with one side saddle pockets) or a similar looking bag with Kang Hye-Jung. The Benetton eco-bag is a square box looking thing with handles.
(I am thinking that having the signature "-Samooki" at the end of every post is annoying, so me gonna stop that - the habit comes from email etiquette, but forum comments are not the same)

@5, Sere,
(The kind of cushy bike seats which are ubiquitous in comfort bikes are actually bad for you because there is a blood vessel can get blocked if you sit in that kind of seat for too long of a time, and that causes pain and discomfort in your butt and legs.).
Anyhoo, you notice the bright yellow building in the picture, but not the cool bike bag wrapped around her? That bike bag totally rocks! Some other notes:
1. Jung Ryeo-won's ear-muff looking things are likely to be some sort of hi-fidelity noise-cancelling headphones which seem to also double as a fashionable headband. Really cool looking, but shouldn't be worn if you are bike riding! You need full range of hearing when you bike. No wearing headphones when you bike, ever.
2. And of bigger concern is the fact that none of these very fashionable women are wearing a helmet! Not even a fashionable helmet, slung off to the side. A huge no-no for safety. And fearless Jung Ryo Won is basically asking for an accident to happen, with the frilly scarf and the sweatshirt around her waist (possibly getting caught in the rear wheel or the gears), the huge noise cancelling headphones and the lack of a helmet., along with a heavy bag slung around the handlebars....
...young people think they will live forever... sigh. I'm getting old. :(
(that said, props to Benetton and the pretty and pretty fearless women).

what I lilke about this companies choice of women is that they are all Unique Beauties. Even if any of them have had surgery (no finger pointing), they still have this part fo them that let them look more than the generic beauties out there
I want a bike like that, what are they called? Not the company, I mean the style ^^

They all look so hip, reminds me of Amsterdam and Denmark. They ride their bikes in style.
I'm curious, what's inside the 'DIE' Gallerie?

no helmets i see. as always safety is overlooked when it comes to style. i wonder if these ladies would ever choose to ride bikes. Being active outdoors can give you impressive tan lines. looking at the pictures, they're just sitting on or by the bike. the one picture where the bike is actually in motion the girl looks like she's riding a bike for the first time. sorry about this rant, i just get annoyed when bikes are featured as trendy accessories or as being eco. these bikes are cruisers btw, and I do think they are very cute.

@Samsooki
Is that why sitting in an airplane for hours and hours makes my butt and legs hurt a lot?? Haha, just wondering..
But like someone pointed out... really skinny women.. @_@
I like the ads, though. Makes me want to go outside and ride my bike and be happy while doing it.

I kinda hate that Kang Hyejung now goes by the title of Tablo's girlfriend. She's made awesome awesome movies and is, imo, one of the most talented actress around. Yet these days, whenever her name surfaces, it's usually accompanied by the mention of Tablo (who is great too) or Tablo's girlfriend.

@Samsooki, I was a looking at the website for Benetton and it I think the bag that's shown with Jung Ryeo-Won is one of the "eco-bags" for sale. Looking at the picture of "eco-bags" on the website it appears to be the one hanging on the bike handles in a different colour. I'm not sure about the one that Kang Hye-Jung is sporting though but maybe it's the same bag with different hook attachments?
The site is http://benetton.anyfree.co.kr/shop_goods/goods_view.htm?category=&goods_idx=3 and the picture is at the bottom of the page, I'm not sure if there are separate pictures for the bags though...

@13, saryKIM-
Actually, no. The channel seat allows for room for the dorsal artery to pump blood without being under pressure. The soft tissue area through which the dorsal artery pumps, upon which you put your fanny, is called the perineum. The perineum is where the prostate is for men and where all of women's genitalia resides...important stuff for both women and men.
Airplane travel-related leg pain is usually associated with a painful condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) which tend to develop especially during long airplane flights. Sitting on a plane for 8 hours can more than double your chance of a blood clot, since you are in a triple-high risk scenario - high altitude (less oxygen, basically mimicking a high-altitude climb), immobilized body (or nearly immobilized since you are stuck like a sardine in a metal can), and dehydration.

@15, Charlie,
Wow, thanks! I was thinking that those bags were ones just thrown together as part of the fashion style, and so we'd never know where they came from.
I was looking at the so-called Benetton "eco-bags" that came from this link:
http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2886913
"As a part of its environmental campaign, Benetton Korea sells eco-bags. The design is nearly identical to that of the notoriously hard-to-get Hindmarch limited edition, except that the cotton canvas bag is marked with “Green is My Religion.” The eco-bag is priced at 15,000 won and sold at Benetton stores nationwide. All proceeds go to the Climate Change Center of the Korea Green Foundation."
Those eco-bags featured in the Joongang website are kind of crappy looking, no matter that they are akin to the Hindmarch limited edition tote bags.

Well, that yellow building covers like 85% of the whole pic :p Hardly difficult to miss ;)
BTW I love that bag. I need to go to one of the Benetton's stores and see if it is available here. Something tells me they sell different things in different countries although you would think we'd get everything here considering Benetton is an Italian brand and all. Hmm. Ah well.

Ah, freaking reminds me that I need to go shopping. I have not gone actual shopping in ages. I need to update my closet [revamping old stuff is just not going to cut it anymore].
The pants that Jung Ryeowon is wearing... agh. I need to find a pair of those. I'm liking the fashion & style. Impeccable. Agh, reminds me. I need to find myself some of those man pants/painting pants/baggy all-around pants.

Kang Hye Jung and Choi Kang Hee look so cool. Love their style.....how it expresses their personalities. Choi kang hee looks like Audrey Hepburn. Love her slouchy tee shirt. The whole outfit is so chic and quirky at the same time.
There's something scary about the fashion model's homogenized look ....all the models all over the world look alike.

though there isn't that much special with the promo ads, they couldn't have chosen a better group of girls. all of them are not only known for their fashion, but they've always striked me as different from the generic crowd of beauties in the entertainment industry.
