Such terrible news. :(
Besides Jung Sun Hee, I think the pictures of those who sadden me the most are Sun Hee's closest friends, Choi Jin Shil, Lee Young Ja, Hong Jin Kyung, Lee Sora, Choi Hwa Jung and Uhm Jung Hwa.
My worst fear is if the netizens don't let up on Jung Sun Hee, she could be pushed over the edge as well. I hope her friends and family will constantly be by her side to watch over her. RIP Ahn Jung Hwan and deep, deep condolences to Jung Sun Hee.

Airajuliafor- here is what was written at CoolSmurf:
"It’s believed that Ahn Jae Hwan failed business ventures saw him raking up debts of nearly 4 million USD. Besides seeing the debt snowballing each day due to interest, debtors also turned up daily at the doorsteps asking for their money back which added to his stress levels. The debtors held Ahn Jae Hwan and Jung Sun Hee at ransom as they knew that they were high profile celebrities. They threatened to reveal their debt problems to the public if they didn’t return the money soon and wreck their careers in a flash.
Ahn Jae Hwan had been missing for more than a month since breaking off all contact and the reason why Jung Sun Hee didn’t call the police to report him missing was to keep the debt problem from being revealed to the public."

I wish the pictures of the scene of his death had not been released and published by the media. It seemed the decent and right thing to do to respect his privacy of his last moments. His poor wife.....I hope she will stay strong. .

Not to make light of the situation, but as sad as his death is, he took the selfish and cowardly way out. He only thought of himself and didn't give a rats a** about how his actions impacted his family or friends.
All that crap that they were scared of revealing was still uncovered but I guess it's better to receive pity then respect eh?
I know I'm probably a minority on this, so I'll leave it at that and put on my flame retardant jacket.

what i don't understand is how his family did not search for him when he went missing, so their reputation was important than his life? i'm sure they searched for him but when they couldn't find him for more than a week they should have called the police. When the police found him his body was decomposed and was dead from a week ago.
So for one week he was lying inside his car dead. I know he didn't choose the right decision to die like that but if the family had cared a little bit more for him they could have at the least helped him in some way. The guy is depressed and suicidal and the family don't even know it. Also for the debts as him and his wife had not registered their marriage she is not considered his wife legally so she don't have to burden his debt. That's what it is said on the news.

of all the celeb funeral pics this year- i think these are the saddest- they were probably thinking about how distraught he was with his snowballing debt and how sad it is that he felt he had to take his own life, wishing perhaps that he and his wife had reached out to them to ask for help. This could have been prevented- so it's sad that he thought there was no way out.

Gosh, I'm sick of people blaming people who commit suicide for being selfish. If someone's willing to take their own life, do you really think they're able to think about OTHER people's feelings? No - they're consumed with their own! Also, how many of us would like to be told we should live our lives for other people? You'd probably hate to hear people tell you that, so who are you to say how someone should die?
I'm not saying suicide is right, i'm just tired of people acting like THEY know the person's mind better than the dead person did. WE DON'T KNOW how they felt, it's not our job to judge them for it. The best we can do is learn from the horrible example and try to remember for our sakes what a horrible tragedy suicide is. But what's the point in saying the guy was a selfish bastard for what he did? He's DEAD - that's tragic enough.

after this,,,don't think i've any more heart left to break this year. cha ye-ryun, of my faves, is so puffy from crying she went from her 20s to looking 40yr old :( a grand irony that so many people knew him and probably would care enough to help if they had been asked. i think the korean media really crossed a line here disrespecting ahn & his wife with intrusive, close-up photos - as if continuing the hyper-intensive scrutiny & bashing jung got for her american beef remarks. they only gave a few lines to the suicide of a movie producer, who had mounting debt after jang jin-young's movie Between Love & Hate flopped.

**If someone’s willing to take their own life, do you really think they’re able to think about OTHER people’s feelings? No - they’re consumed with their own! **
Exactly, their own! How isn't that being selfish again?
Also, at no point in time did I say I knew his situation, but I can't see how you can argue that suicide is perfectly acceptable and that it only impacts their life. How about the life of the people they know and love. All the pain and suffering that goes comes with that because they took the easy way out. I definitely don't need to know what they felt since their actions clearly speak louder then anything I or anyone could say.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say you probably never had someone you dearly loved committ suicide since you can't fanthom the amount of grief and suffering someone goes through.
I'm quite content to agree to disagree on this.

When my friend committed susicide, I felt angry not because of her being selfish ... but more on she cheated me a chance to help her or suffer together with her.

baffomet, it's not that you call suicide "selfish" that I didn't like, it's the suggestion that the person who died owes it to other people to not die and therefore you're condemning them. It's the condemnation i hate, not the fact that it's selfish, because i agree with you it is selfish. But i also think that harping on a suicide with the comment that *omghowselfish* (which wasn't just you, but others in the other thread too) is pointless and judgmental and drives me crazy.
I was willing to agree to disagree with you, however your last comment was really ignorant and uncalled for:
"I’m going to go out on a limb and say you probably never had someone you dearly loved committ suicide since you can’t fanthom the amount of grief and suffering someone goes through."
HOW DARE YOU. Because i have lost two people close to me to suicide (1 family, 1 friend) and your comment is so insensitive and downright stupid i can't even believe it. How dare you tell me I can't "fathom the amount of grief and suffering someone goes through" because I HAVE. Twice. (and even if i didn't that was still a ridiculous thing to say.)

My best friend killed herself ..she was only in her early 20's ...the last thing I want to do is call her 'selfish'. She was the most unselfish person. Life is much much more complicated. I hope you will find that out one day-Baffomet.

Sigh...I don't know Ahn Jae-hwan well but from the looks of the photos, he seems to be well loved by a lot of people. Just praying that he'll rest in peace and hope that the media will stop scrutinizing his funeral as it should be kept privately between those who knew him well. My condolescences to his wife and his family.
The topic of someone committing suicide is already tragic and sad to think about, so I do hope that people will stop criticizing whatever happened as it already creates havoc when peace is needed the most.

Suicide is a very controversial topic and subject to many arguments
Please leave those arguments out of this for the moment to mourn the loss of a life.
RIP Ahn Jae Hwan
I believe many people are supporting your wife and friends so I hope you can feel a bit relieved about that.

i've never lost anyone to suicide myself (and desperately hope I never will) but i think there's two sides to everything. his suicide may have seemed selfish because he didn't think of all the people he would hurt due to his death. However, on the other hand i think he should've lived for himself. Just to live on to the fullest and know that he never gave up. Or get help. Something. Anything.
maybe it's all about the frame of mind. even when one feels like giving up hope, reach farther and hope to get there...but maybe i shouldn't be one to have a say in this. Regardless, i don't really know who he is, but i hope he has found peace...
(i really loathe how they take all these pics of celebs when they're so vulnerable. GIVE THEM A BREAK. gah. i think i'd lash out at the camera men....puahahaha ;] )

janet and baffomet i think are coming from 2 very different sides of the argument.
there IS something to be said for stepping outside of your own consuming grief and getting perspective. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE bigger problems in this world. It would be good to realise that because it tells you there IS always hope for you and you're more surrounded by support that will get you through whatever you're going through.
we don't ever really live BY and FOR ourselves, alone. we need people, just like they need us, in life AND in death. when you die-- more to the point, when you KILL YOURSELF-- you're not only killing yourself, but something in the hearts of others die too. HOW DARE YOU make best friends and be loved by your family if it is only in the goodness of LIFE that you think about them. just as you share sorrow in life, know that the last legacy you leave is a DEATH that won't take the living with you.
no one is saying that suicide is a GRIEF that we can ever hope to fathom for the people who did do it. but as people from the outside, as the people who were left behind, we can AGREE that we have all lost someone in this way or another, and we can be more valiant in knowing that we won't want to do it to OUR OWN LOVED ONES as it was done to us. before even thinking of succumbing to death, natural or not, REALISE, first and foremost, THAT YOU HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO FIGHT FOR.

we don't know what drove him to suicide so people please stop acting and preaching like a saint. Who knows maybe he didn't get enough support from his loved ones because as far as i know he was lost for a month without contact and his family didn't want to call the police because they cared more about their reputation than his life. Although he did run away from home maybe what he really wanted was for his family or friends to find him and bring him home. That is why maybe he felt they didn't care about him when for 2 to 3 weeks there was no news of him being lost. It might have drove him to commit suicide, who knows?

very powerful words maria. so true i think. life u realize can be so precious.
there will always be two sides of the arguement.
but this "When my friend committed susicide, I felt angry not because of her being selfish … but more on she cheated me a chance to help her or suffer together with her."
is a really strong one. i believe its true for a lot of people who are left behind.
what did i do wrong, did i aggrevate, things that keep you lingering on why what could have been done differently.
seeing all these people at the funeral who care for him, its so sad to think that it was so hard to tell people and that sun hee couldnt even tell people her husband was missing and keep that all pent up iside. tragic.

RIP Ahn Jae-hwan. Its sad he felt he had no one to turn to. To have the ability to do something like that he would have had to be really deperessed. We weren't in his position so i think its more than unfair to judge his decision. I'm not a religious person but i really hope he's happier now.

come on, i dont think he din spare a thought for his wife k.. she wont have to pay his debts for him after his death and this could be why he wanted to end his life. he just din wanna be a burden to her anymore.. so dont just go around saying it's a selfish act.
who wont want to enjoy marriage life, it has only been less than a year that he got married.
and besides, things like suicide happens when you are just too emotional at that moment and i believe if given a second chance, he might choose to face his problems. yes yes suicide is not the way to solve problems, selfish cowardly act, but when we, humans, are really caught in complicating situations, would you dare say you wont think of ending your own life? yes those who are still living are going through a horrible time, but is really anyone to blame?

I think the thing with suicide is the survivors are always left with a feeling that there was something they could have done or said to change things. When it is an accident you know it is out of your hands.

>.> Why are all these debt problems appearing in the news lately? I hate to say it, but at least his wife wasn't included in the suicide. Lately in Britain and Hong Kong, the wives and children followed the husbands... and it was all because of insurmountable debt.
