Kim Min-hee does Hwang Jini v.3
by javabeans
New KBS romantic-comedy series Love Marriage isn’t a sageuk, but lead actress Kim Min-hee dresses up as famed courtesan Hwang Jini for a scene in the upcoming drama.
The role has previously been enacted by actresses Ha Ji-won in the drama series and Song Hye-gyo in the big-budget film version, both pictured below. Kim Min-hee wears the gisaeng’s trademark elaborate hairstyle and elegant hanbok in these just-released stills. The similarity to previous Hwang Jinis is no coincidence; the fashion designer behind this look was also the same one who designed the hanboks for the drama Hwang Jini.
In the series, this particular scene takes place at a “couples matching party” themed around 19th-century Korean royalty. Kim Min-hee, the couples manager, dresses for the occasion and even gives a performance on a classical instrument, the gayageum, pictured below.
Love Marriage starts on August 25, and I’m looking forward to it! It may sound familiar in that it’s a trendy drama centering around opposites who attract (she’s a lively and quirky matchmaker; he — Kim Ji-hoon — is a buttoned-up divorce attorney) but I don’t care; this kind of show is usually right up my alley.

Kim Min Hee's wig looks like it's about to take over her head. It must be heavy as heck. Love Marriage will probably be the lower rated drama compared to East of Eden and Tazza but I have a feeling it'll be alot of fun. BTW, will you be doing recaps for East Of eden?

amazing, she radiates such intelligence that the film version looks like a dead fish (a beautiful one) next to her!

yea! Didn't Chae Rim do a Hwang Jini parady as well? (Dal ja's spring).
I'm excited for this one. I'm a big fat sucker for modern rom-coms. And Kim Min-hee is an absolute delight for this genre.

Interesting...
Btw, does anyone know if movies typically make more profit than dramas? And is more money invested into movies than dramas?
Personally after getting hooked on Asian entertainment I'm more interested in dramas than movies.
Of all the DVDs that I buy, it's all dramas because I can watch it over and over again. But with movies, I tend to only watch it once and so I don't feel comfortable buying it...

I've been waiting for a trendy drama like this for a while.
Out of the Hwang Jinis, I think I will always like Ha Ji Won the best. Song Hye-gyo has never appealed to me.

Ha Ji-Won's portrayal of hwangjini ia something i can never forget.
She was a delight to watch and her acting was perfect.
Song Hye kyo's movie version was dull and a complete snoozefest.

I totally agree with the above 3 ^
Ha Ji Won portrayed the character spot on and she was so great to watch! Not to mention, Jang Geun Suk was in it as well ;)

For me, Song Hye Kyo was just a pretty wallflower, without her looks she'd be nothing, cause her acting is not good enough.
Ha Ji-Won on the otherhand has the looks and superb acting skills.

The one in the middle looks the worse.... I've never seen the movie version but the drama wowed me until the plot line couldn't figure out which way it wanted to go.

at # 1...you've got to be kidding me with your statement...didn't you know that Song Hye-gyo wore a 5-kilo gache for the photoshoot of the movie???
yes, Kim Min-hee should be Hwang Jin-i #4, as Chae Rim took the 3rd spot...

who's the lady in the middle? I thought her hair was done by a non pro. (I didnt realize she's portraying Hwang Jin Yi. Anyway, Ha Ji Won looks very regal. I've watched her Hwang Jin Yi and I couldn't able sleep for days because of what happened in her life. Ha Ji Won brought the worst and best in me whenever she's acting. She moved me. She made me cry. She made me lose my mind when Hwang Jin Yi did something unexpected. I am a Filipino but because of Ha Ji Won, I able to know what Korea and Koreans can offer. Her acting skills is amazing! =) Koreans must be proud of her =))
